ABOUT

Working for advertising agencies in San Francisco and Minneapolis,  I've  written everything from Jell-O sell sheets for a foodservice distributor to a 400-page, million-dollar lifestyle book for Celebrity Cruises. My portfolio includes the first brochure for Levi Strauss stretch jeans back in—well, never mind—to e-newsletters,  direct mail, web sites, videos, books and web sites for clients today.

Above my desk hang framed memories of a BFA in Advertising from the University of San Francisco, a Copywriting degree from the Academy of Art University, and a Master's in Technical Communication from Metropolitan State University. Joining them are awards for being both an Outstanding Graduate Student and Outstanding Community Faculty for Metropolitan. (Ten years apart!)

After writing, editing and proofing for Tad Ware  & Company in Minneapolis for 18 years (and working on many of the projects shown in this portfolio), I am now happily doing freelance writing. 

In addition to writing,  I particularly enjoy developing curriculum and providing lively instruction for online courses for Metropolitan State University, the Loft Literary Center and now, as of 2023, the University of Minnesota. I am never shy with offering targeted feedback on writing for any purpose.  One specialty area is consulting on how to improve resumes and cover letters. Another favorite thing to do is meet writers just starting out, or experienced writers looking for a change,  and  offer perspective, focus and new directions for their writing careers.  Exploring coffee shops all over the Twin Cities? Bonus!
